We can all take a page out of Archer Senft’s book of life and learn so much from him. Archer’s fight for his life after a diving accident in 2015 is an inspiration to us all. He is a myriad of things to multitudes of people (many of whom he has never met): son, brother, friend, college student, artist, entrepreneur, music lover, intellectual, writer, disciple, hero, and survivor, just to name a few. Archer Senft graduated from Cathedral in 2013 and went on to McDonogh School.
Currently, he is studying at the University of Pennsylvania in the School of Engineering. Archer says he chose Penn for various reasons, but he wanted to study engineering and design and be able to work with collaborative and creative people. He also said he liked the localized, urban campus that fit well with his disability.
When asked how Cathedral prepared him for what he is doing now, he states, “…by giving me a very strong academic foundation…Cathedral also instilled in me a firm sense of faith that I carried with me through the challenges I’ve encountered since graduation. I have no doubt that without the support of my family and the Cathedral community, I would not be in the position I am now.”
Archer has so much wisdom from which we can all learn. His sage advice to our students is “…to always have hope and trust in God’s plan. There is nothing life can throw at you that can’t be overcome, so just keep moving forward and believing.”
Archer is still working on designs for Slimeyard Slimes, and there should be some new shirts releasing in time for Christmas. Stay tuned!
